A replica of the Mayflower Hotel room key, that was used by Bill Wilson on his visit to Akron. The 16-story, 450-room hotel was opened on May 18, 1931.
The Mayflower became part of history in May of 1935 when Bill Wilson, who was seeking help for his battle with alcoholism, made his famous phone call from the hotel lobby to a minister. This phone call led to Wilson’s meeting with Dr. Robert Smith. Together they created Alcoholic Anonymous.
